We’re here to support you in affirmative confidential prayer.
Life can get messy, and most of us make a mess of our lives, or we find ourselves in a mess at one time or another. Woodland is filled with very nice, loving and friendly people that are also messy, imperfect and broken. We also believe that God can turn our mess into a message; a message of hope and victory.
We encourage one another (and you) to embrace the new life in Christ according to:
2 Corinthians 5:17.
If anyone is in Christ, he or she is a new creation, the old has gone, the new has come.
What To Expect
We care about you, not what you’re wearing. We don’t care who you’re voting for in the next election or how many tattoos you have. We’re a church full of imperfect, broken people who are coming to know Jesus and serving others together, and regardless of your story, we believe you belong!
If you’ve never been and you’re considering coming, here’s what you should expect…
Nice people. We LOVE it when someone comes for the first time. Our staff is ready to welcome you and answer any questions. A well stocked coffee & juice bar is available to you in the entryway. So feel free to say, “This is my first time” and we’ll guide you in!
A casual atmosphere. We care about YOU, not what you’re wearing, so feel free to come in jeans or whatever is comfortable. Our dress code is simple: wear something. Grab a hot cup of free coffee & donut from our "Higher Grounds" coffee & juice bar and sit wherever you’d like! We will NOT single you out publicly or ask you to say anything, and we do NOT expect guests to contribute anything financially.
Practical teaching, that connects the words of the Bible to everyday life and music that is lively, including drums and guitars. Don’t be surprised when some people raise their hands as a sign of praise while singing, and don’t feel obligated to do so yourself. We create an atmosphere of freedom in our services.

Bio of Pastor Mike
I was born and raised in a Christian home therefore, church-life has been a major part of my up-bringing. During my growing up years I endured much bullying and rejection primarily due to a severe speech impediment and poor social skills. These and other behavioral problems were the result of being born mostly deaf. Years of testing's and speech therapy and poor grades in school left me with low self esteem and a sense of being a failure.
Needless to say, the first 48 years of my life was filled with minimal accomplishments and maximum failures in employment, relationships, parenting and Christian living to name a few.
I believed upon the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior at the age of 15 and sensed His call to the ministry at age 16 but low self-esteem took me on a 30 year journey of "wandering in the wilderness of disobedience and dereliction."
At age 48 I was humbled before the Lord and completely surrendered to His Lordship. Much to my surprise, the call to ministry was still alive in me. God led me to enroll at Liberty University to major in religion with studies in Christian counseling.
Much to my surprise, God has shown me that I am not a failure nor an incompetent creation of His. He has indeed fulfilled His Word in me as a "new creation in Christ." This is the life changing truth that I am compelled to teach because it is true for every believer in Christ. Imagine, a deaf, stuttering, speech impaired person, called to preach and teach...
God has placed in me a deep love for the people of Woodland and our community as well as a love for teaching the freeing truth of His Word.
The signature verse that the Lord laid upon my heart at the launch of my ministry is from:
Isaiah 61:1-2 (NLT)
61 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me,
for the Lord has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor.
He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted
and to proclaim that captives will be released
and prisoners will be freed.
2 He has sent me to tell those who mourn
that the time of the Lord’s favor has come,
and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies.
